Beer and mustard glazed ham

You can’t help but make this when maple syrup season rolls around!

Ingredients

  Ingredients Quantitites
bone-in ham, about 1.5 kg to 2.5 kg (3.3 to 5.5 lbs) 1
yellow mustard 30 ml (2 tablespoons)
red ale 330 ml (1 ⅓ cup)
grainy mustard (optional) 30 ml (2 tablespoons)
maple syrup (optional) 30 ml (2 tablespoons)
water 250 ml (1 cup)

Directions

  1. Position the baking rack in the middle of the oven. Preheat the oven to 225 °F (110 °C).
  2. Cut the hard rind off of the ham (optional).
  3. Place the ham in a large cast-iron pan and brush with the mustard.
  4. Pour the beer and maple syrup around the ham. Add 1 cup of water and cover.
  5. Bake for 2 to 3 hours.
  6. Remove the ham from the pan. Place on a serving platter. Serve hot or cold.
